We are Det Lille Hotel - a small boutique hotel in the Sørland gem Risør. We are passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests, and we always go the extra mile. Our proud and dedicated service staff create world-class guest experiences. Our goal is for all guests to walk out the door with an unforgettable experience. 

In May 2023, we opened our new branch in the city's old Tollbod, which has become a small boutique hotel with 9 double rooms and a fine dining restaurant, Tollboden 1865. In addition, we opened Park Café in Risør's old Esso station, which has become a rustic and modern restaurant. 

We are looking for committed employees who are service-minded, have an eye for detail and are team players! 

We need head chefs, sous-chefs, chefs, kitchen assistants, waiters and bartenders this summer!

We are looking for you: 

  • Who are structured and take responsibility
  • Are service-minded and genuinely committed to providing the best guest experience
  • Is cooperative and willing to learn
  • Likes to work at a fast pace
  • Are flexible and can work on other relevant tasks within the hotel
  • Relevant experience is a plus, but the right attitude goes a long way!

Risør is a beautiful, charming and safe town to live in. Here we are a welcoming community with a vibrant arts and cultural life. In Risør, most things are within walking distance. There are no large chain stores, but only small and cosy niche shops. We have a large outdoor area - Urheia, swimming opportunities and a bustling nightlife in the summer.

We are part of De Historiske Hotell & Spisesteder - a unique membership organization consisting of many of Norway's most charming hotels and restaurants. We have 9 stylish double rooms in Tollboden and 19 different, comfortable hotel suites in carefully restored historic buildings in one of the world's best preserved wooden house towns, Risør. Each suite has a unique theme that tells the story of the town's rich maritime history. Here you can dream of living like a Risør citizen during the sailing ship era, but with the service and style you would expect from a historic hotel. 

Applications are considered on a rolling basis and the start date is by appointment. 

Head chef

Are you an ambitious chef who wants to work at an exciting hotel and restaurant in Southern Norway?

We are now looking for chefs for both Tollboden 1865 and Park Café for the period May 1 - September 1, 2024.

Both permanent and seasonal positions are offered.

This is a unique opportunity for you to develop your career by working alongside an experienced, dedicated and seasoned team.

At Tollboden we have a fine dining restaurant, Tollboden 1865, which focuses on seafood. We also have a bar and outdoor seating by the waterfront. Breakfast is served here for hotel guests, as well as a la carte lunch and dinner.

Park Café is located in the building next to Tollboden. Here we have converted an old gas station into a modern and rustic gastropub, where this year we are expanding the menu to include pizza. Park Café is located on the quayside and has a fantastic pier that is very popular with summer guests. Here we have a more casual dining experience, but with the same focus on the quality of the food and service. Both indoor and outdoor seating, lunch and dinner.

Both kitchens are brand new and well-equipped and there is a good collaboration between the two restaurants.

You will be trained by our experienced head chef and will work together with the restaurant manager at Tollboden 1865 and the rest of the hotel staff.

This is what we look for:

  • A chef who has management experience with a background in fine dining and à la carte restaurants.
  • Someone who is structured and can follow up on IK-mat.
  • Someone who can liaise with suppliers, take product orders and have an overview of logistics.
  • Someone who can plan shifts and set up good schedules (planday)
  • It is desirable that you are familiar with Norwegian and Scandinavian cuisine.
  • Someone who is creative and ambitious
  • Someone who enjoys working at a fast pace as there is a lot of pressure here in the summer.

We are looking for skilled waiters who can help give our guests an excellent and memorable dining experience in our two restaurants, Tollboden 1865 and Park Café. You should be friendly, professional and fast, and have knowledge of and interest in what you serve.

  • Someone who has good collaboration skills and is solution-oriented.
  • It is a plus if you have a good command of spoken and written Norwegian/good knowledge of English.
  • Someone who is flexible and can work shifts and/or weekends and holidays.
