Check-in/check-out
When is check-in/check-out?
Check-in is from 15.00 at our reception in Tollboden, Strandgata 10. It may be possible to check in at 14.00 if the room is ready, just check with the reception before arrival. In the summer, especially in July, check-in is generally at 16.00 - this is because it takes quite a long time to clean a suite, and our cleaning staff must have enough time if there are many new arrivals.

Check-out is at 11.00 in July, and at 12.00 the rest of the year. It is often possible to get a late check-out - again, just check with us if this is possible.

We arrive very late, is it possible to check in?
It is always possible to check in! We do not have a 24-hour reception but there is always one of us nearby, if you arrive after the reception is closed, just arrange the check-in before arrival or call when you take the E18 towards Risør.
Dogs and pets

It is not allowed to bring a dog or other animals to the hotel, unless it is a guide dog and then only by appointment. Sorry!
We know that it is not popular among you with four-legged friends, but we have some sensitive antiques, furniture and fabrics in the suites, and have unfortunately experienced too many times that things are destroyed by pets or that it has been troublesome for other guests with barking, etc.

Parking
Does the hotel have its own parking?
We have a limited number of parking spaces that can be rented for NOK 150 per day and must be booked in advance. In case we do not have capacity, there is a large public parking lot 500 meters away in Tjenna.

Do you have a charging station for electric cars?
We have 7 charging stations in the city center, only for hotel guests.
Breakfast and other meals
When is breakfast served?
From 8 - 10 am on weekdays during the summer.
From 7 - 10 am on weekdays during the rest of the year.
From 8 - 11 am on weekends all year round.

Can breakfast be delivered to the suite?
Yes, it costs NOK 200 to have a breakfast basket delivered to the suite.
Otherwise, we offer breakfast in our restaurant Tollboden 1865.

Doyou have dinner service?
Our restaurant Tollboden 1865 offers an a la carte menu. If you are a large group, we can arrange a set menu in advance.

Party, party and event
Feel free to contact us to plan your event. We have several options both at Restaurant Tollboden 1865, Park Café and closed parties in our suites.

If a party or similar event is planned in one of the suites, it must be agreed with us before arrival out of consideration for other guests and neighbors.
Special needs, handicap rooms, allergies, etc.
Do you have cots?
Yes, just let us know before arrival that you need a cot or high chair.

Do you have a disabled/accessible room?
We have a suite, the Colin Archer suite, which is partially adapted for wheelchair users. It has a ramp to the front door and terrace, a wide entrance to the bathroom, a disabled toilet and a high bed.
We also have a room at Tollboden, adapted for wheelchair users. We have an elevator at Tollboden.

Do you have allergy-friendly rooms and options for those with food allergies?
We have three allergy-friendly rooms, we ask guests who have allergies to contact us before arrival to ensure that they get a suite that is adapted to their allergies.

We really appreciate being informed about food allergies/intolerances - we have gluten-free bread and lactose-free milk available, but if you have strong allergies for example to eggs, nuts, shellfish, the hotel must be informed.

We can also offer vegetarian and vegan options on request.
Swimming pool and wellness treatments
Do you have a spa or wellness area?
We do not have a spa facility, but the suites "Gjestehuset" and "Konsulatet" have access to a heated swimming pool.

Is the swimming pool open to all guests?
The swimming pool in Storgata is only for use by guests staying in the suites located by the garden, Konsulatet and Gjestehuset.

If you are part of a larger group that has rented several suites including those by the garden, then all guests in the company can use the garden and the pool.

Do you have a bodyguard for the swimming pool?
We do not have a bodyguard, the swimming pool is used at your own risk and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult when swimming.
Smoking
Is it allowed to smoke in the hotel?
Smoking inside the suites is strictly prohibited, if we find that a guest has smoked in the suite, we charge the credit card with a fee of NOK 5,000 afterwards.

Smoking is allowed on your own patio by the suite, but please have respect for other guests who do not smoke. Cigarette butts must be placed in water before they are thrown away and must not be thrown to the ground.

Check price and availability

BOOKING

The guest will receive a confirmation of the booking via SMS or email. There is an 18-year minimum age limit for booking accommodation. The hotel reserves the right to cancel the reservation upon arrival if a valid ID cannot be presented.  

CHECK-IN, CHECK-OUT

In case of cancellation due to state-imposed travel restrictions, there will be no cancellation fee, and if a prepayment can be used for a new booking otherwise the money will be refunded 14 days of written confirmation of the cancellation.

Check-in from 16:00 in July and August, 15:00 for the rest of the year.

Early check-in may be possible and can be arranged with the hotel prior to arrival.

Check-out before 12:00 (11:00 in summer), late check-out can be booked subject to availability.

Pre-authorization of credit cards shall take place upon arrival or, and if otherwise not agreed, settlement of rooms, bar and room service etc. shall take place upon check-out.

CANCELLATION/CANCELLATION

On non-attendance (No-show) – confirmed room/event will be charged 100%.

An advance of 30% is required for summer bookings. The amount paid in advance will not be refunded in case of cancellation unless the room is rented to others at the same price during the same period.

Cancellation of confirmed hotel rooms in June, July and August must take place no later than 3 days before the agreed arrival. If confirmed hotel rooms are cancelled less than 3 days before the agreed arrival – the confirmed price will be charged in full.

The cancellation deadline in the period September - May is at 18:00 the day before.

Cancellation of confirmed bespoke packages (up to 5 rooms and/or up to 5 people) must take place no later than 4 weeks prior to the agreed arrival. If the confirmed bespoke package is cancelled less than 4 weeks before the agreed arrival – the agreed price of the package will be charged by 80%.

All our suites are non-smoking – please use designated smoking areas.

DAMAGE

The guest is responsible for any damages incurred by the hotel, fixtures or other equipment.

FORCE MAJEURE

If incidents that are beyond our control such as strikes, fires, extreme weather and other things that prevent the stay or activity from being carried out, we reserve the right to cancel your stay or activity without further liability to pay compensation.

Generally bad weather that is considered normal for the season - is in itself not the basis for cancellation and does not change the current cancellation policy.

INSURANCE

We advise all our guests to sign up for a cancellation insurance policy with their own insurance company, which covers cancellation due to illness, among other things. In addition, we recommend all our guests to have valid travel insurance.

PRICES AND PAYMENT

We reserve the right to make price changes as a result of increased costs on purchases, services, currency, increased taxes and taxes or other factors governed by external parties.

We want to be cash-free and we encourage our guests to use electronic payment solutions. As a consumer and our guest, this will be a safe way to travel.  

We encourage payment by credit card, bank terminal is available – and we accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Only Norwegian currency – NOK is accepted by cash settlement. Cheques or traveler's cheques are not accepted.  

Any credit should always be agreed and accepted in advance. Payment terms when granted credit are net per 10 days.

PREPAYMENT

We reserve the right to request pre-payment. For bookings in July and August, and certain periods outside, an advance of 30% of the total must be paid before securing the order.

In case of cancellation, the advance will be refunded if the rooms are rented out to others in the late same period at the same price.

COURT

Any disagreement between the parties to this Agreement that is not resolved without a court – the case will be brought before a local Norwegian court and its decision will be final.

BOAT TRIPS AND OTHER EXPERIENCES

We reserve the right to change or cancel trips with our partners due to bad weather, unforeseen incidents with equipment or crew. Any change in route or program due to weather conditions does not provide a basis for a refund.    

All trips by boat or bike are at your own risk.

Equipment on a boat trip – such as cameras, mobile phones, bags, jewellery, glasses etc. is taken at your own risk.

ORDERING, MODIFICATION AND CANCELLATION 

All orders, changes and cancellations shall be made in writing.

In order to ensure the quality of the event, the order must be confirmed in writing on our part – before information can be sent out to other participants. 

In case of group booking, name list, program, contact information on the leader of the group, any allergies and special needs must be sent to the hotel no later than 1 week before the event starts. 

When booking for groups of 5 rooms/suites alternatively 5 people or more - an A-account amount of 30% of a stipulated total amount will be billed upon confirmation of the event.

An increase in the number of rooms and participants must always be agreed with and confirmed by the hotel at least one week in advance of the event.

BUY OUT

For bookings of 80% of the hotel or more, the hotel reserves the right to book the entire hotel.

REDUCTION OF MEALS

Reduction or cancellation of meals later than 14 days prior to the start of the event will be billed at full cost. All changes must be sent in writing to the hotel.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT

Check-in between 15:00 and 23:00. Check-in after 23:00 must be arranged.   

Check-out before 12:00 (11 in summer) – later check-out must be arranged. 

All our suites are non-smoking.

If the stay/event must be cancelled due to state-imposed travel restrictions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, any prepayment will be repaid within 14 days of receipt of written confirmation.

Cancellation due to illness must be covered by the participant's own insurance.
