Four unique seafront suites in a listed house from 1750

The yellow house in Buvika, colloquially called the "Vatican", is a Baroque house with many original and rare details both inside and out. The house, which is the second oldest in Risør, is located by the sea 800 metres from Torvet along Solsiden, a nice short walk or bike ride. Our guests in Buvika have use of good bikes.

Protection through use

This is one of the hotel's proudest projects. The house was saved from destruction in the early 2000s and a full restoration work was initiated in collaboration with the National Antiquities Authority.

The Dining Room of the First Officer Suite

The house today accommodates four comfortable suites, decorated in the correct style with antiques and maritime curiosities, but with all modern comforts including a complete kitchen.

Everyone who stays here falls in love with this house, the atmosphere, location and comfort.

On the 1st floor there are "Captain's Suite" and "Styrmann's Suite", both with sea views, and on the 2nd floor, "Matros" and "Båtsmann", two very cosy suites with rustic style under sloping roofs.

Location

Buvika is a quiet district a short 10 minute walk from the inner harbour and Torvet, there is a bathing area at the end of the pier across the street, and behind the house the beautiful nature area «Urheia».

There is private parking for all guests at the house, and bicycles to use.

Breakfast and dining

Some guests find it nice to take a trip in for breakfast in the town centre, but most people here choose to enjoy themselves in the suite or in the garden and have breakfast delivered to the door. You can also order a shellfish platter or a charcuterie platter delivered to the suite.
